In 4 weeks, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK.
Each week we are introducing you to 2 of the participants:
Philippa is from Sale and is studying at the Manchester Law School. She started playing Goalball 4 years ago when she was at university in Nottingham and currently plays for West Yorkshire. She says that she enjoys playing Goalball as she likes the spirit and camaraderie of the sport. She also plays cricket for the Lancashire Lions and enjoys indoor rock climbing and hiking.
David lives in Bedfordshire and works in London for a public health body called the Faculty of Public Health. It’s been 25 years since he played Goalball (quite badly) but he does enjoy keeping fit and is a member of Leighton Buzzard Triathlon club, so manages the occasional bike ride. New to tandem riding he is hoping for an easy ride as he understands it is always the rear rider who does the hard work….
