In just 1 week, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK.

This week we are introducing you to the final 3 participants:

Zakyeya Atcha
Zakyeya Atcha
Zakyeya is a doctor specialising in public health medicine. She is a Breeze champion and has been cycling since she got her first bike when she was 19. She competed in the first women only sportive in Lancashire organised by Breeze Network last year and the first NHS triathlon in 2012. She has been known to head off for adventurous rides including from Lancashire to Mid Wales in search of waterfalls. This challenge gives her the opportunity to achieve 2 aspirations: to ride coast to coast & to ride a tandem bike. And have fun for a good cause along the way!
Simon Gordon
Simon Gordon
Simon has always done lots of different sports – from American Football to Capoeria and from Kayaking to Squash. He studied International Relations and Anthropology at the University of Aberdeen and is currently learning to be a Games Programmer. He enjoys gardening, listening to music, watching films and playing chess.
Joshua Hartland
Joshua Hartland
Joshua is Assistant Head of History at Ryburn Valley High School. He is originally from London but moved to Yorkshire with his wife 2 years ago to be closer to the hills. His greatest passion is cycling and he rides everyday to and from work. The longest ride in length and time that he has ever done was a 24 hour ‘Cragg Vale challenge’ which was in celebration of the Tour de France. This is his local hill and apparently the longest complete ascent in the UK at just under 9km. He is currently ‘warming up’ for the Coast to Coast by riding 320 miles to Dundee! As with every cyclist his vice is coffee and cake…..no ride can be complete without either!
