On Monday, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK. They will be following the ‘Way of the Roses’ (http://wayoftheroses.info/)

The schedule for the Coast to Coast challenge is below:

Monday 3rd August

Morecambe to Austwick via Lancaster and Clapham (28 miles)

Depart approximately 1pm and arrive approximately 5pm

Accommodation = The Dalesbridge Centre

 

Tuesday 4th August

Austwick to Pateley Bridge via Settle and Cracoe (34 miles)

Depart approximately 9.30am and arrive approximately 5pm

Accommodation = Harefield Hall/Lyndale Guest House/Talbot Hotel

 

Wednesday 5th August

Pateley Bridge to York via Ripon and Boroughbridge (47 miles)

Depart approximately 9.30am and arrive approximately 5pm

Accommodation = Racecourse Centre

 

Thursday 6th August

York to Bridlington via Stamford Bridge, Pocklington and Driffield (61 miles)

Depart approximately 8.30am and arrive approximately 4pm

Accommodation = Expanse Hotel

 

The 15 goalballers who are taking part are: Anthony O’Keefe, Brittany Stead, Dave Butler, David Knott, David Scott, Dean Wilcox, Kali Holder, Kelsey Trevett, Louise Simpson, Natalie Jamieson, Peter Doyle, Phil Green, Philippa Swettenham, Sam Hoskin and Sarah Stephenson. They will be supported by Goalball UK coaches and officials (Andy Gordon, Becky Ashworth, Dani Dillon, Faye Dale, Kathryn Fielding, Robert Avery and Sarah Paddison) plus CEO Mike Reilly and some experienced cyclists.

 

It would be great to see as many people as possible coming out to support all those taking part in the event. This could be giving a wonderful send off in the morning, cheering everyone on a part of the route, or welcoming them to the finish on that day. These little things will give everyone on the bikes that little more energy to power through any tough times.
