The 2016/17 Goalball UK season began with Intermediate tournaments in September. Scarborough Panthers won in Region A with Ryan Wilcox (Nottinghamshire Sheriffs) and Emma Tammaro (South Yorkshire) top scoring. In Region B, Fen Tigers walked away with the gold medals and maximum league points with David Keeling (New College Worcester) and Laura Perry (Fen Tigers) top scoring.

Next up, in October, there were Novice tournaments. Scarborough Panthers were again the winners in Region A with Danny Clarke (Greater Manchester VI Bees) and Amelia Robertson (Lancashire Lions) top scoring. In Region B, New College Worcester triumphed with James Evans (Winchester) and Reanne Racktoo (RNC Academy) top scoring.

region-b-novice-15th-oct-ncw-wolves-2Following their fantastic performances at the European B Championships, the Great Britain players returned to action with their clubs in November at the 1st Elite tournament. The eventual winners were Northern Allstars who beat Phoenix 14-13 in overtime. Dan Roper and Laura Perry (both RNC Academy) were the top goal scorers.

So, at the end of round 1, Scarborough Panthers sit top of the National League with 20 points, closely followed by New College Worcester in 2nd place with 19 points and Winchester in 3rd place with 15 points. What will happen in round 2?
